So, life with little baby Harrison has been a little trying ...

He was fine when he was first born and for the first week of his life then he started not being able to poop and spent his time upset and crying, we talked to a pharmacist and she suggested we change him onto comfort milk. He was okay for a while and then a he started displaying the same problem again. He also had really terrible smelly wind that he also had trouble passing.

His mum is lactose intolerant so she asked the doctor if he could be and was told no, it's very rare, not even offering to do the simple test to fine out one way or another and claiming the crying was colic ... all day and night, every day, happy baby had gone again,

So, we decided that we would have to do trial and error ourselves and got him milk that was lactose free. This seemed to do the trick, happy baby came back again and for longer but alas it didn't last and sad baby returned once more ending with him in A&E after screaming constantly for 6 hours, no pooping for 40 hours and a call to 111 (our non emergency line in the UK instead of 999, the emergency one like the US 911 who told her to take him in.

He saw a paediatric doctor while in there, who listened to the whole story without once mentioning colic then gave him a very detailed examination and declared that she believed he has a cows milk protein allergy. She ended up prescribing him 'milk' that is manufactured basically in a lab. It has no dairy or soya or anything he can be allergic to or intolerant of and basically contains what he needs to grow and thrive with very little waste products.

He has been on it for nearly 2 weeks now and happy baby came back.

Now he needs to grow out of the colic he gets every evening which will be great for everyone.

Oh and to top it all, he seems to be teething early at 8 weeks ... at least that is short term!

Here he is in his Christmas best on Boxing day :)

Oh and before anyone starts ranting about 'breast is best' she wanted to feed him herself, this proved impossible due to a medical issue.
