As most of you know, back in August i was taken away from the job i had done at work for 9.5 years without any explaination, and despite being told i had done nothing wrong etc i still have no clue why!
Anyways, about 2.5 weeks ago another workmate - Wendy - and i were told that we were going to have to do 2 hours stints on the fitting rooms - the most boring job in the whole store - but that if we did it one day, we wouldn't do it the next ... i did 2 hours that day, as did Wendy. The following morning the Admin manager tells me that i'm going to hate her and i asked her why, even though i could guess and she said i'd have to do the fitting room as there was no-one else.
I was not a happy bunny to say the least, standing around doing bugger all is my worst nightmare, i hate to be bored - this time of year the shop goes quiet for a month and doesn't pick up until around the middle of feb after the sales and people get their xmas bills in - so i wasn't in a good mood when they asked us to redo our availability ... mine got shorter ... Mon - Fri, 9am to 1pm ... i was a little more flexible before then!
Anyway, once our briefing was over the Admin manager asked me if i'd like to do delivery - pre-retailing, getting stuff ready for the shop floor - instead of the fitting rooms, saying that one of the freebies could swap with me (people from the job centre), to which i readily agreed and it was so much better!
Anyway, since then Wendy and I have done mostly delivery and on Friday one of the managers asked us if we wanted to change to delivery to which we replied not if we have to change out hours and she said nope, we could keep the same hours so we readily replied. Just before the end of our shift she came to find out as told us that on mondays we'll be doing tills, tues, weds and thurs delivery and friday tills or delivery depending on how much there is left. And that if we are down for fitting rooms on the monday to ignore it, yay!
I'm not holding my breath that we'll never be on the fitting room again but it will be minimal *huge grin*
For once i actually feel like i don't dread going into work in the morning.
I will attempt to catch up with my replies to comments over the next week ... i am going to try and diet again, i need to keep my fingers busy and i have ickle dieting with me too this time so we can help each other ... and hopefully i will have the inclination to read and write more regularly ... insomnia permitting.
And on a completely different note my daughter went to a work do this evening dressed as Bellatrix Lastrange from Harry potter.

Date: 2011-01-30 11:37 pm (UTC)Love your daughter's outfit it's brilliant! She looks gorgeous!
Going on a diet - good for you! I'm starting Weight Watchers on Tuesday provided we get enough people signed up at work. Our company's actually letting us have our meetings right at work in one of the conference rooms which I appreciate. I'm dieting to lose weight to help my arthritic knees, hips, everything really. At least having the program at work I'll have built-in support.
I'll cheer you on from here in California. YOU CAN DO IT!

Did you get enough people to sign up for weight watchers? I don't think i could do that, go to a group thing. I'm just calorie counting, i did it before, about 10 years ago and have kept most of what i lost off but i need to lose lots more. My daughter is dieting with me but she needs to lose far less, but we'll have each other for support.
Thank you so much xx

Date: 2011-02-05 05:47 pm (UTC)I'm not crazy about group meetings, but I need the group support. The rep weighs us one by one privately and will only share the amount we lost if we say it's okay. Otherwise she'll just say we lost weight without the details.
Glad your daughter is dieting with you; it will help. Remember You Can Do It!

Date: 2011-01-31 07:13 pm (UTC)And your daughter looks beautiful. What a lovely outfit.
Good for you for the diet. I've been on and off WW, but they don't have that here so I'm just really watching what I eat and exercising...it's paid off, I've lost 12 pounds since our move. \0/
You can do it!!!!

Date: 2011-02-05 11:17 am (UTC)Congratulations on losing 12 pounds, that's brilliant!! I've lost 10 so far, i'd do more exercise but my knee that i hurt two years ago hinders me a bit, but i find i can do the dance thingys my daughter has for her Wii. And i've been getting much more active at work recently, lugging boxes and the like about.
I have a lot to lose, so i really hope it works this time and doesn't just stop like it did before ... that happens a lot ... and my daughter - who has much less than me to lose - is dieting with me so that'll help.
Hope you are well?

Date: 2011-02-05 07:02 pm (UTC)Thank you :) Oh that's good! And I've heard the Wii is very good for that. We've been going back and forth about getting one and haven't decided yet.
YAY for your daughter doing it with you, that always helps to have a buddy.
We are doing well, still loving Germany :) And the kid is loving kindergarten :) Thanks for asking!

Date: 2011-02-05 07:26 pm (UTC)Yes, get a Wii!! The exercise ones are great and they even tell you how many calories you are burning off, it really is like doing a workout and the dance ones are fun as well as exercise.
It's good to hear that you're loving Germany :)

We are doing well. The child is constantly testing boundaries - no surprise there LOL. Other than that, life is pretty good. Thanks for asking bb :)
