missthingsplaceOMG! I thought there was going to be a punch up at Customer Services at work today!
A couple of women asked me to phone our Canterbury store to see if they had a pair of boots they wanted in a size we didn't have. There were 2 people in the queue waiting so i called someone to help while i was on the phone then i called Canterbury as they take forever to answer the phone, let alone find what you want.
In the time it took Holly to arrive, not even 2 mins, about 3 more people joined the queue and before i knew what was happening the people i was serving were arguing with a woman in the queue who was probably in her 60's . Now i don't know exactly what was said as i didn't hear but from what the women i was serving said (mum and daughter maybe in early 40's and 20's) she arrived in the queue and had been there barely a minute before she started complaining and moaning that i wasn't doing my job as i didn't have anyone helping me - i think she didn't hear me call Holly as when Holly arrived she moaned at Holly about wasn't there someone that could help - anyways, from what i could gather one or both of the two women i was serving made a remark to her in my defense which i also didn't hear and then this 60+ woman went into a torrent of abuse calling the younger one a whore and told the other she had a fat arse - the 60+ woman was bigger than the one she was calling fat - in the end the two i was serving tried to ignore her but she kept digging, although they did a good job of mostly ignoring her.
I was still serving my two, having now called our Ashford store and Mandi for whom i was covering on CS for had come back and was serving this woman, who when she had been served turned to mine and told them 'she would see them outside' ... Mandi was calling for a manager but no-one came ... eventually she called the office and told them there was trouble and she was worried what might happen outside and finally they came down but i think it ended at that point. I was shaking like a leaf i realised afterwards. The two women i was serving kept telling me they were sorry they were taking so much of my time etc but this older woman was obviously the one in the wrong, there was no excuse for the abuse she was giving them and they didn't say any nasty remarks to her in return either and the customers who had been waiting when i served them told me it had entertained them while they waited, lol!
